At Project STAY, we make at-home HIV testing as easy as possible.

We’ve been providing at-home HIV tests since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to make sure people had access to HIV testing despite clinic closures and delays. Our health educators are there every step of the way from intake, to answering questions to helping you take the test over the phone if you need!

HIV Home Testing in Three Easy Steps
STEP ONE: ORDER A TEST
Call or text us at (646) 245-4000 to begin the process. Our on-call health educators are available to answer all your questions and to help complete an over-the-phone intake form.
STEP TWO: RECEIVE TEST
Project STAY takes care of all the shipping and customizes the packaging to meet your sexual health needs! The package will look like any other mail or Amazon box – no one will be able to tell there’s an HIV test inside. We also include condoms, some lube, and other sexual health resources and informational pamplets.
STEP THREE: TAKE THE TEST
Watch the testing how-to video, read the test information, and call your designated health educator if you need any help, have any questions, or if you’re nervous and just want someone to talk to while you wait! The test will take 20 minutes before a result. Send a picture of the test result to Project STAY and you’re all done!

Client Testimonials
Dont’t take our word for it – here’s what our clients say:
I think Project STAY made it different than just getting sent through the mail. It made it feel more personalized and more like there was an actual human on the other side rather than just a number on a lab chart or something.
home testing client, 2020
The health educators talked me through everything. They checked up on me to make sure I received my kits. They even double checked to see if I needed instructions again before I did it. She even offered to be on the phone with me while I did it, but I didn’t need it. They were very helpful!

I think medical racism is extremely real. However, I don’t feel any of that with the Home Access Program. Seems like the people that they hire at Project STAY are different, that they just care more about patients and people in general. Like even the way that my health educator followed up with me, I guess it’s just not something I’ve ever experienced in any other clinic or facility. And I don’t know if that’s just how the protocol is, but regardless, it’s nice.
