There are many legal hotlines that can provide legal advice and support on a range of legal issues, including housing, domestic violence, immigration, public benefits, and more.  Check out www.lawhelpny.org for a full list of resources.


The Door

  • Available to youth 12-24 years old

  • Provides legal advice and representation for immigration and civil cases, and counsel for housing issues, public benefits, family law issues, are being victimized or stalked, or require proper forms of personal identification (birth certificate, passport, legal name-change, etc.)

Lambda Legal

  • Available to all people in the U.S.

  • Provides general legal information and resources relating to discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, and HIV status

Legal Aid Society

  • Available to all NYC residents

  • Provides a wide range of legal services across most areas of law, including immigration and deportation, health and disability, employment, and parole
